Sindacato di Assassino
As is the nature of all countries, operating in the shadow of society, is the assassin. Naturally or trained, an assassin must be skilled in subterfuge, spycraft, tradecraft, politics, the identification and use of magical artifacts, interrogation, torture, assassination itself, a number of other less savoury martial traditions, anything that will allow one to get as close to their target as possible. Within the Old Raimanzan empire many an assassin was secretly hired to assist in the grand political game or to simply eliminate threats to the Zampari family's control.
Over time the most elite of these assassins formed a simplistic brotherhood, a place for them to retreat to when in danger, to make sure they are not in conflict for high priority targets and induct new members that they believed to be worthy. This eventually grew into an organization known only as the Sindacato di Assassino, widely known of in general but shrouded in secrecy, and whenever some individual attempts to finds actual details of its members or its plans there always seemed to be a swift death to deter others from doing the same.
During the events of the reunification war the work of the Sindacato was pushed into overdrive as contracts and money flowed into their hands to help one or another of the wealthy cities in their push for supremacy. Mistakes were made by overconfident novices and often plans went horribly wrong due to what must have been inexperience or the Sindacato trying to do to much at once. It is at this stage that young Roberto Decunti became involved.
After a horribly pathetic attempt on his brother's life, Roberto extracted information from the would be assailant and learned of the Sindacato di Assassino in detail. Utilizing a combination of his family name, roguish charm, quick wit and lust for violence he rapidly became a prominent member within the organisation. Collecting bounties and completing contracts on incredibly high priority targets allowed Roberto to gain a name for himself and a reputation to follow. When the opportunity arose he removed the old withered 'leaders' of the Sindacato and ruthlessly ground the organisation under his heel until they unanimously swore loyalty to him alone.
Now as the head of the Sindacato di Assassino and the underboss of the Cosa Nostra, Roberto maintains a vice like grip on the lives of many of the Dominion's most important members, deciding whether contracts are allowed on certain people or not. This is what he perceives as true power.
